SeaQuest Lynchburg Review for Families

Home Travel SeaQuest Lynchburg Review for Families

SeaQuest Lynchburg is an attraction in the River Ridge Mall that is a hand on way to explore land and sea animals. This is also a great way to spend some time in an indoor setting through the cold winter months or when it’s too hot to be outside!

I’ll be going through SeaQuest’s highlights so you can decide if this under the sea adventure is right for your family.

SeaQuest Tickets counter

SeaQuest Pricing

SeaQuest has a ticket price of $13.99 per participant (online) to admit the aquarium. If someone wants to go regularly, they can purchase a season pass for $39.99 that will get them admission for a year and discounts on some of the experiences but I’ll get to those later!

SeaQuest Lynchburg Discounts

There are several ways to get a discount on your tickets to SeaQuest. If you are buying tickets online, use the code TAKE25 to save 25% on all tickets.

If you are a teacher, bring in your school ID or your license to get yourself and the family in for free!

There are some Groupon deals, but you may want to price check before you buy those. Sometimes, it’s better to buy the tickets straight from SeaQuest rather than get one of those.

Make sure to buy tickets ahead of time because if you wait, it can be more expensive when you arrive.

What does my SeaQuest ticket get me?

With a ticket, guests are allowed to walk through the entire exhibit. This includes land and sea animals that will be visible to you. There are some areas where they may even bring out an animal on a leash that guests can pet. Basically, you will get in, but none of the feeding is included. This is where they make the money!

SeaQuest Lynchburg Koi

How can I feed the animals at SeaQuest?

The animal feeding at SeaQuest is done by purchasing tokens. Most animals have food right next to them that you can purchase with your tokens. There are mammals, fish, otters, sting rays and more that are just hanging around waiting for you to feed them! You may be wondering if the animals will be hungry, but every time we go, they are begging for food.

After you purchase your tickets, you have an option of buying tokens to feed the animals. A single token is $2, but if you buy in bulk (they have different packages) it becomes cheaper. We can never go without buying tokens.

Can I pet some of the animals?

Yes, you can pet some of the animals. Some are included with admission, but many are “experiences” that you must pay tokens to participate in. For example, we did a Savannah cat experience last time we visited where we got to be in the enclosure with the cats to observe them.

We had to follow strict instructions while we learned about the animals. The kids were not allowed to go alone so we had to pay for an adult to be in there as well.

SeaQuest Lynchburg Sting Rays

What kinds of animals will I see at SeaQuest Lynchburg?

There are many different animals at SeaQuest you will be able to observe. Not only are there many aquarium animals, but there are also many land animals.

As far as sea animals, we saw sting rays, koi, trout, tropical fish, and sharks. Those were the basics, but I can’t name all of the fish myself.

Land animals had much more variety than I thought. SeaQuest has toucans, iguanas, kangaroos, lizards, sloth, Savannah cats, turtles, Kookaburra, snakes and more. There were plenty of chances to pet animals as some of the enclosures were free to go into or workers would bring them out and allow guests to pet.

SeaQuest Lynchburg Snack bar

SeaQuest Food/Drink

There is not a lot of food or drink in the attraction for people, but there is a small snack stand near the sting ray tanks. Also, you are able to purchase tokens.

Is SeaQuest Lynchburg clean?

We found the attraction to be very clean as far as bathrooms and places to clean up. Many of the foods for animals are raw fish. This, of course, gets on your hands and makes them smell. But SeaQuest has strategically placed hand washing stations throughout the exhibit to help keep hands clean and less smelly.

The bathrooms have also always been very clean when we visit, which is a huge plus for me.

SeaQuest Lynchburg photo op

Fun extras at SeaQuest Lynchburg

Lastly, SeaQuest has several photo ops throughout the area that allow families to commemorate their day. We tend to go with cousins, so it’s always fun to get them to get together and pose in a giant clamshell or a shark jaw. Sometimes, there is even a mermaid that will pose in pictures with you which is a nice touch.

Local tip:

After we enjoyed our time here, we needed a snack and went to Cinn City to split some insane cinnamon rolls. This was the perfect ending to our day!
