Hull’s Drive in History

In 1950, the Lee Drive In was built here and was bought by the Hull family. It was run as a family business for about 50 years until Mr. Hull passed away and his wife sold the theater.

The new owner kept the theater running but the high costs of running the theater and upkeep kept the owner from reopening for the following season. Concerned citizens gathered together to create the Hull’s Angels and this non profit assisted the theater in re-opening.

After many successful fundraisers, the Hull’s Angels decided to attempt to purchase the drive in themselves. The drive in was owned by the Hull’s Angels by May 2001.

Sadly, many drive in theaters in the country have had to close, but the Hull’s Angels saved this one. Hull’s has been delighting community members ever since.

Pricing

Hull’s Drive in charges by the car load and how many movies will be shown that evening. If you are by yourself, you will pay even less. Hull’s is much cheaper than going to a theater.

Location

Hull’s is located just off interstate 81 exit 195. When you exit, head south and you will see the theater on your right.

Hull's Drive in Concessions

Concessions at Hull’s Drive in

To keep the prices low, Hull’s depends on the sale of their concessions. Guests are allowed to bring their own food, but it greatly benefits the drive in if you purchase from the snack bar. There are some really great options here and you can eat in your car or at the picnic tables.

A great feature that is relatively new is online ordering as guests can order from their car and wait for pickup.

Hull’s will open the gates two hours before the first movie is going to begin.

Double Features

Many times, the drive in will do a double feature. It can get pretty late and they usually switch the order the last night of the showings. Make sure to go the night the movie you prefer is first. We have left the drive in as late as 2 am before but that was before kids. Plan accordingly!

Hulls’ Drive in Tip

We like to bring our own portable radio to use so we can close our windows on cold nights. Also, we love to bring cozy blankets and pillows.

Hull’s Drive in is family friendly

Usually, guests get to the theater early (the gates open two hours prior to the show) to get their favorite spot and to have a snack. Our kids like to go early so they can find other kids and play in the grass in front of the screen.

We like to bring bubbles, balls, frisbees and outdoor toys for the kids to play with. Many times our kids make some new friends while they wait for the movies.

Community groups use Hull’s for having a movie night. Our kid’s school has even rented out the movie theater for a school wide movie viewing. Hull’s is a great family friendly destination.
