The Island in Pigeon Forge is a newer attraction in Tennessee that has only been around for about 6 years. It can only be described as a massive outdoor shopping and entertainment experience. There are rides for the kids, shops, restaurants, games, a ropes course and immersive experiences. But it’s hard to get it all in in one visit. The Island is also very close to the Frizzle Chicken Farmhouse cafĂ© and you can look across the parking lot for coupons.
Arrival
The Island in Pigeon Forge can be seen from miles away
When you arrive, you will park in a massive parking lot. There is a tram ride every few minutes for those who need it, although, we end up walking because it’s not too far and a good time to stretch legs.
Parking
As you get to the main entrance, you will be amazed at the sight of The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel (the Island ferris wheel). You can see this monstrosity for miles away and it let’s you know you have arrived.

Additionally, you will notice a large fountain area with rocking chairs all around because the fountain does a show every 30 minutes.
This is such a treat as they use music and lights to enhance the experience. People have proposed with the fountain shows and done gender reveals. It is a truly unique experience.
Shopping
There are shops all over and they go around the perimeter of the Island and they have set it up like you are walking down a quiet side street. The Island at Pigeon Forge shops have so much variety. There are candy shops, cookie shops, toy shops, Build a Bear, decor, glass blowing, Moonshine, jewelry and so much more! We even found a shop for Parrot Mountain!
You may also notice several balconies and they are a part of a hotel called the Margarita Island Hotel. That’s right, you can stay on the Island in a Jimmy Buffet themed hotel, but you must keep in mind The Island stays open until midnight!

Once you pass by the shops, you might notice some of the Island rides and experiences. The Island Ropes Course has a small course near the bottom for young adventurers and everyone else can do all the levels. The daring can even jump off the top when they’re done!
Additional activities include: escape room, thunder dome, rides, 7D dark ride adventure, laser tag, bumper cars, mirror maze, mining for gems, shooting gallery, old time photo, a spa.
Arcades are all over Pigeon Forge, but this is incredibly convenient
A personal favorite of ours is the Arcade because it has a large variety of games and we have found coupons that work here. The biggest perk of this Arcade is the convenience of being in The Island and because we take such a short trip, it’s nice to have attractions grouped together.
Our kids love arcade games and could stay here all day if we let them (and we gave them all our money!). On a hot day, this is great due to the air conditioning!
Sweet shops are fun for the nostalgia
We really enjoy going into the candy shops to check out their displays and sometimes, there are even unique candies that haven’t been seen in a while. The bulk candies are really the most fun to me, but remember, you purchase by weight!
If you get hungry, there are several chain restaurants right there such at Paula Deen’s, Mellow Mushroom and Timberwood Grill to name a few.
